In Exodus 3, when Moses approached God on the mountain and God was in a "flying craft", why did God instruct Moses to remove his sandals to walk on holy ground? What was the significance of the burning bush that was not consumed?

Hi Karl,
So sorry to have missed your excellent question. Perhaps we might take that detail at its face value in the terms of the story. The being The Being that introduced itself to Moses (The Being is how the LXX translates his self-chosen epithet) always demanded respect. Same in the introduction of Abraham to El Shaddai. Perhaps the shoes off is a part of that picture.
What are your thoughts?
Peace,
Paul
