Big fan here. Have you ever read Carl Gustav Jung's "Answer to Job"? In this work the famous psychiatrist delivers a psychoanalysis of God (Jahweh?) in the book of Job, basically describing Him as an insecure, narcissistic and childish tyrant. He not only submits Job to inhuman adversity for reasons of vanity, but goes off on a rant about his majestic works (e.g. Job ch. 38, 39) when Job expresses his righteous indignation.

One of the main theses in "Answer to Job" is that after His experience with Job, God realizes He is so out of touch with humanity that He sends Jesus in the flesh to reconnect: "For I know that my Redeemer lives [...]", Job 19:25. (I presume Jung didn't know about ET's).

With this in mind, my position is that God (the real one!) sent Jesus to set us free from the tyrannical Annunaki/Elohim and their organised religion. Do you agree?

Sorry I missed this messageI have not red Jung's ANSWER TO JOB. My view of God is a little different in that I don't regard God as a personality to go through the thought processes you describe or "send" anyone. Where my view coincides with yours is that, like you, I do believe that Jesus' intent was to set us free from Yahweh / the Elohim and I argue this the most strongly in my book THE EDEN CONSPIRACY.

If the Job story is in reality a Yahweh / Elohim story then perhaps we shouldn't treat it as an insight into God at all. That would be my start point.

What are your thoughts on that question? Has your thinking on this evolved in the time since you posted this message?

Thank you so much for your reply. I have read the Eden series and it is truly a brilliant combination of biblical scholarship and comparitive mythology.

If I am not mistaken the terms used for God in Job are Elohim, Eloah, Shaddai and YHWH. so the "usual supects". This might not be the Father after all.

As you might know Jung was also a mystic and claimed to have experienced Kundalini and numerous visions (see his "Red Book"). I suspect Jung still saw the god of the Old Testament as divine creator (instead of a minor Eloh) and applied the kabbalistic notion of God wanting to know Himself through His creation (and thus incarnating Jesus).

Perhaps Jesus was just another iteration of Heavenly Wisdom like Buddha. However I believe Jesus was something else; a Divine Revalator and the Son / Logos. Didn't He say Himself the Father sent Him (John 6:38 inter alia)?

The only thing bothering me is the initial exclusivity of Jesus'mission. He came first and foremost for the Jews (Mark 7:27 / Matthew 15: 24).
